“We the People” 4TH OF JULY PARADE APPLICATION
The July 4th Celebration Committee invites you to participate in our annual parade celebrating our Nation’s Independence Day. The Parade is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 11 AM. To ensure your entry a spot in the parade, please return your entry form by June 26, 2009 to:
We the People Liberty Day Parade
P.O. Box 532
Boise, ID 83701
Entry Fees:
$12.00 for walking groups
$32.00 for a non-profit float and multiple vehicle entries.
$52.00 for a commercial float and multiple vehicle entries.
This is to help pay for the various expenses accrued in putting on the parade including the liability insurance we are required to carry. Note we have increased the fees two dollars from last year in order to give a cash prize to winning entries this year.
Payment for the entry fee may be made to the 501-C3 non-profit organization, “We the People July 4th Liberty Parade, Inc.”
Volunteer Support is needed. Please call the Parade offices at 377-2364 if you or anyone you know is willing to volunteer during the parade.
Please note the parade route. Enter the staging area at the corner of 11th and Bannock. Parade Entrants will be arranged in the Boise Corp. parking lot between Bannock and Jefferson. Please also note the Boise Police have told us you CANNOT throw candy from any moving vehicle. You may have walkers in your group HAND it out.
Please carefully read the Parade and Float Rules. The Committee works hard all year to make our parade the best it can be. To accomplish this, we need your cooperation. In the past, entrants’ non-compliance with the rules, and the ignoring of parade officials’ instructions, has caused many difficulties. This reduces the enjoyment of the parade for everyone.
To ensure the ongoing success of the parade, we need the spokesperson for each entry to accept the responsibility to see that the parade rules and all instructions from parade officials are followed. Any complaints the committee receives will result in the assessment of penalties, which could mean being banned from future parades. Any fees assessed will be the responsibility of the non-complying entry.
This year’s theme is: Land of the Free, Home of the Brave!
Floats will be judged by a committee according to the way they reflect and express this year’s theme. Awards will be given prior to the parade.

I am very disappointed in the time change. Was there a specific reason for the change? Most people have afternoon BBQs and the parade is now scheduled at a time that many are gathering to eat. The evening time allowed for families to gather and then go to the parade after their meal – this year’s time seems that it will be an inconvenience for those participating as well as for the spectators.
There’s a conflicting event being held at the usual time this year, so it was moved this year for that reason. You may be surprised, but the parade committee has received several complaints about the old time as well along these lines. The public may vote on their preferences on this issue in our sidebar poll.
