The Boise 4th of July “We the People” Liberty Day Parade announced today that it is accepting nominations for Parade Marshals. To complement the 2009 theme, “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave” the Parade Marshals will be local heroes who have given of themselves sacrificially and made a significant difference in the community.

Nominations will close on May 15 and the Parade Marshals will be announced after Memorial Day. This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, July 4 2009 at 11 AM.

A spokesperson for the committee said, “We had a scheduling conflict with another fourth of July event at our old time this year, and took the opportunity to test a morning time. The public is encouraged to participate in a poll on the time change at our website.”

The “we the people” committee also has said they are renewing their 2008 call for the entire Boise community to show their support by sending in $1 donations. “We would like to thank each Boise family who participated last year. Your donations, many of which exceeded the $1 requested, went to support one of the longest-running community-wide celebrations in the Capital city. The ‘We the People’ parade is truly ‘the people’s parade’ and we encourage everyone in Boise to show their support again this year, too.”

Nominations and/or donations may be submitted to:
“We the People” committee
P.O. Box 532,
Boise, ID, 83701
377-2364
or via www.libertydayparade.com

The committee notes, “Hard to think about summer festivities in early spring, but now is the time to begin thinking about volunteering for the parade or entering a float. We’re issuing prizes to the best entries this year, so the earlier you get started, the more time you will have to implement a dynamite entry.”

Registration for individuals and organizations planning an entry in the parade is open from now until June 26, 2009.
